Shitao
Discover a Chinese artist with an independent spirit and bold ideas in this month's My Artist Box! Shitao (1642-1707) created calligraphy, poetry, and paintings that challenged people to reconsider what beauty truly meant in Chinese art.
As kids learn about Shitao’s ideas and techniques, they'll recreate two of his most famous pieces. They'll practice watercolor skills and printmaking. They'll also use a straw, pompoms, and a pipette to experiment with inkblots.
