Does science influence art? Absolutely! Explore the combination of art, science, and Pointillism with this month’s art box devoted to Georges Seurat.
Through Seurat’s scientific-based style of applying dots color-by-color, he influenced the way people viewed art. Kids will start off this box by reading a biography of the artist and studying a few of his most important pieces. Then, they’ll get to practice Seurat’s signature painting technique in four colorful projects. They’ll paint dots of color using cotton swabs, pencil erasers, bubble wrap, and a hole puncher. In each project, children will spend time learning the technique and have fun experimenting with the technique themselves.
