Valentine's Day

Roses are red, violets are blue, this Valentine's Day art box is especially for you! It includes five hands-on projects to encourage young artists to celebrate love and friendship.

Children will experiment with a variety of art supplies as they create swoon-worthy art. They’ll see how watercolors blend when using color-diffusing paper and when using a wet-on-wet  painting technique. Plus, they’ll get lots of fine-motor practice as they work with their hands to tear paper, cut hearts, tie knots, and apply stickers. The science project features a mini-lesson on heat-sensitive paper and the opportunity to create a color-changing bookmark. The next morning, they'll wrap up the art box with a tasty Valentine’s Day breakfast!

Shrinky Dinks Key Chains
All children are amazed by the magic of Shrinky Dinks! After a few minutes in the oven, this seemingly normal plastic shrinks to one-third of its size. For this project, children will draw hearts and other Valentine's Day shapes. Once they shrink, kids will turn them into key chains!
