Shen Zhou
Travel back in time to experience the poetry, calligraphy, and paintings of Shen Zhou and China’s Ming dynasty! This art box includes everything young artists need to learn about Shen Zhou’s life and recreate a few of his famous paintings.
Children will begin with a brief study of Zhou’s artistic style and background. Then they’ll have the opportunity to apply his techniques in four unique art projects. They’ll make their own stamp, use chromatography, and learn how to use an authentic calligraphy paintbrush. They will also paint on rice paper much like Zhou did in the 1400s. Each project will emphasize the painting of natural elements and the symbolism of traditional Chinese art.
